SavorWisconsin.com is inviting you to explore the sweets of the state during this snowy winter. Several late winter and early spring holidays give consumers several reasons to try all the sweets produced by Wisconsin confectioners.
More and more people are giving in to the urge to feed their sweet tooth. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, chocolate candy dollar sales increased 5.6% and non-chocolate candy sales grew at a strong 7.5% in 2004. Some of this growth can be attributed to confectioners creating more sugar-free candies and low fat, low carb chocolates in response to the current health craze trends.
Many of Wisconsin’s candy and chocolate makers are part of long-standing family traditions, and their pride and craftsmanship show through in the sweet treats they create. With Valentines Day around the corner, there may be no sweeter gift than chocolates from a local Wisconsin confectioner. In a survey done by the National Confectioners Association, 93% of women polled eat chocolate and 52% say eating chocolate makes them happy.
